An old favorite, that never gets old…
Hello everybody!
Does anybody remember Ranma 1/2? You know, the anime about the boy who turns into a girl when he gets doused with cold water? Yes, it’s old, but sit down and watch it! There is a reason it spawned so many OVA’s!
The first thing you see in the first episode is a red haired Ranma being chased through the streets by a panda bear. The bear turns out to be her father, who has betrothed her to marry his friends daughter. The problem is the girl is really a boy who has been cursed by falling into a Chinese lake! Hilarity ensues for the duration of the series as love interests and rivals join the fray.
The opening theme is a very 80’s sounding pop song, that will get stuck in your had for days. (Or is that just me?) The animation is is smooth, but shows it’s age some. It should be remastered to brighten the colors, but thats not a huge fault against it. And the barrage of gags to get the various characters wet can be repetitive after a few episodes.
But please, if you haven’t seen it, watch it! Its a good course in what us older otaku watched before anime became popular.
